I bought this model a few weeks ago. The kitchenaid 500 Pro was my first stand mixer. It worked well for me for the past 10 years. I bought this model because I wanted something a little smaller with a tilt head. I love to cook for my family, including my 4 grandchildren. This is powerful enough to do everything I need it to do. I love the slightly smaller size, and the color. It looks great on my countertop and is easier to move when I need to than the much heavier 500 Pro. It mixes up a double batch of banana bread, my grandchildren's favorite, in no time. It is the perfect addition to my busy kitchen.

Overall, this unit performs perfectly! The only problem I have is the lack of open space between the top of the bowl and the bottom of the mixer arm when it is in locked position. My parents had the 6 quart stand KitchenAid mixer and it had a lot of room and distance vertically from the top of the bowl to the bottom of the mixer arm, which made it very easy to stir and add ingredients… I honestly did not look at the difference between the 6 quart and a 4 1/2 quart, I just thought it was a smaller bowl... in hindsight, the sales price is exactly the same for both units and I didn't realize I was buying the smaller one because the store obviously didn't have the 6 quart on the shelf so I didn't think about it for my first time purchase. If I could make one design request for the smaller 4.5 quart unit, it would be to raise up the mixer arm and give you more vertical clearance like the 6 quart unit. This mixer will probably be passed down to my grandchildren many years to come and I would recommend these KitchenAid stand mixer's to anyone!

My husband got this for me for Christmas and so far I love it! My only gripe is that the mixer attachment doesn't get close enough to the bottom of the bowl to beat/whip less than 3-4 egg whites or mix stuff that doesn't come far up enough.
